Tottoro Association plans to open Snoezelen therapy room in Bucharest

Snoezelen is a type of therapy that is used for people with developmental disabilities, and involves exposing them to a soothing and stimulating environment, the "snoezelen room". These rooms deliver stimuli to various senses, using lighting effects, color, sounds, music, scents, etc.

The theraphy was developed in the Netherlands in 1970s. The word "snoezelen" is a contraction for the Dutch words for sniffing out (snuffelen) and dozing (doezelen).

The main idea of snoezelen is to have both relaxing and activating effects that promote well-being: snoezelen room is a place of joy and meeting.

Who can use snoezelen? Anyone who is interested or needs to relax being overwhelmed by noises of the modern civilisation. The snoezelen rooms are specially designed for people with autism and other developmental disabilities, dementia, brain injury and even toddlers.

Tottoro Association plans to open Snoezelen therapy room (sometimes called multi-sensory stimulation room) in Bucharest in 2012. Feel free to help us in our effort to bring a better quality life to the people who really need it!

How can I support the building of the Snoezelen theraphy room in Bucharest?
